--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Epidemiology Prepared by Dr. Thaer Sabri Hussein.
The origins of epidemiology go back to the idea, first expressed by Hippocrates and others two thousand years ago, that environmental factors can influence the occurrence of disease. For example, we take the results of John Snow, who indicated that the threat of cholera in London during the periods - 1848-1849 - and 1854-1853 observed a clear link between drinking water and deaths. He prepared a statistical comparison of cholera deaths in areas with different water sources and found that the death rate was high among those who were supplied with water by the South York Company.
